Greater Zion 1

Located in the southwest corner of Utah, Greater Zion is a destination that offers more than 2,400 square miles of adventure and inspiration. Zion National Park is the premier attraction, but only the beginning. Four state parks and a multitude of year-round recreational lands set the stage for adventures beyond compare.

ZION NATIONAL PARK The fourth most visited national park in the U.S., Zion is by far the premier attraction of Greater Zion. An ancient land of diverse topography, abundant wildlife and a maze of river trails and tributaries. Gaze up at massive sandstone cliffs of cream, pink and red that soar into a brilliant night sky. Experience wilderness in The Narrows legendary slot canyon. And find sanctuary amid Emerald Pools and hanging gardens as you trace the footsteps of the native people and pioneers who came before.

ST. GEORGE This little-known pocket of Greater Zion teems with a pioneering spirit cultivated over generations. The city’s treasures remain virtually untapped, from shopping, gallery hopping and a plethora of restaurant options to golf, spas and world-class cultural performances at Tuacahn Center for the Arts, a dramatic outdoor amphitheater in the shadow of 1,500-foot red rock cliffs.

Bryce Canyon National Park Famed for its crimson-colored hoodoos—spire-shaped rock formations weathered and eroded into monstrous, otherworldly characters—Bryce Canyon National Park’s silent beauty is surreal and like nothing on earth. Within this sprawling preserve, pine-flanked hiking, mountain biking and horseback riding paths lead down through the hoodoos and fairylands of Bryce Amphitheater and up to four overlook points for horizon-sweeping panoramas.

Grand Canyon National Park About a 2.5-hour drive from Black Desert Resort, Grand Canyon is, according to President Teddy Roosevelt, “the one great sight which every American should see.” It’s also one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1979, offering rim-to-rim hiking (21 miles), donkey rides and white-knuckle, whitewater rafting. With layered bands of colorful rock revealing millions of years of geologic history, the Grand Canyon’s vast vistas are incomparable.

Lake Powell Boasting 2,000 miles of shoreline featuring red rock cliffs, sandy coves and beautiful blue water, Lake Powell is America’s second-largest human-made lake. An enormous reservoir straddling the Arizona-Utah border, prized by nearly 3 million visitors annually for its vast, eerie landscapes, lively houseboating scene and some of the best boating in the world. Join the flotilla of motorboats, dinghies, Jet skis and water skis on a quest for family fun—only six hours from Black Desert.

Las Vegas Just 90 minutes away, the glitz and glamour of Las Vegas beckon with a whole different vibe. Visit the Entertainment Capital of the World for a girls’ getaway, guys’ pilgrimage or couple’s retreat, surrounded by some of the world’s finest celebrity chef dining, boutique shopping, show-stopping performances, live concerts, late-night clubbing and casino games. Or thrill the kids with indoor skydiving, ziplining, water parks and animal adventures. The options are mind-boggling.
